The Challenge: Working in partnership with the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases we wanted to define and identify predictors of disease progression for a rare arthritic condition.
What We Did: We leveraged Black Swan’s leading-edge data science expertise to analyse a large anonymised patient data-set patient, provided by the hospital for research purposes, to identify which factors would indicate an accelerated disease progression and for whom specific drugs and exercise treatments might be more effective.
The Results: The analysis is ongoing, however already we have found interesting effects of biologic drug use and exercise treatments on disease progression, highlighting the dynamics of drugs and exercise on optimising longer term outcomes for this group of patients.
